We’ve been quite busy over here this year. And now, just two days after completing filming for a secret project, is our winter 2018-2019 commercials and brand films showreel:

Here’s our latest work for MassMutual. It’s aimed at their 10,000 or so financial advisors and is meant to help give them a more in-depth introduction to their new Coverpath insurance platform. It’s more educational than the other videos we’ve created for this series. But we worked hard to make it as entertaining as possible.
We shot this over a few days in September in New York, including some shooting at Roosevelt Island. It was a blast!
Our first virtual reality clip of 2018- New York Times Square walking test of the Insta360 Pro camera platform- is being featured on the Veer.tv platform today. Veer’s one of the world’s largest and most-respected virtual reality communities. Yay us!
Please watch in 4K, 1080p isn’t quite enough resolution to get the full effect. We originally filmed in 360 degree VR in 6K in 3D, which means stereo visuals if you got ’em. This looks best on your trusty virtual reality goggles like Google Daydream, or whatever flavor of face screen you’ve purchased. It also looks great on mobile phones, with the right app.
And, if you’re doing the YouTube thing, here’s the same clip there.
We love working with startups, and New York’s iCapital Network has been a client of ours for awhile. We’ve watched them grow and now they’re becoming a really big deal in the private equity world. They’re streamlining the whole PE pipeline, and helping investors get involved with an investment class they previously couldn’t access.
Working with startups is always an interesting ride, because the world they live in moves much faster than the typical corporate world. In a startup’s world you have to be nimble, embrace the velocity and frequency of change, and still find the authentic story that will help the startup connect with their audiences. Startups need more than a video production company. They need a partner who knows how to collaborate and craft their ever-changing story.
Here’s what they said about working with us as they’ve grown:
Many thanks for your patience, professionalism, preparation and collaboration over the past few years. Our business is changing every day and you and your team really helped us capture the spirit of our growing start-up!
– Hannah Grove, Chief Marketing Officer
We try to keep a startup or two in our client mix at all times, alongside the larger corporate video production clients and name brands we work with regularly. If your startup needs a great video, contact us at PatrickOrtman, Inc.
We are often called when a company wants a corporate video that’s really special. Something that stands out, production and story-wise, from the typical corporate video.
So, I was very happy to have been asked to create the 35th Anniversary corporate video for New York’s Waitex Group this fall. We worked with a creative, smart team of people at Waitex, and together we were able to take this mega-successful company’s story and tell it in a way that engaged and excited its audience.
This project spanned two countries: we filmed much of it in New York City and New Jersey, while working with a great team of filmmakers in China for shots of Waitex’s extensive and impressive China projects.
Here’s what Ken Li, President of Waitex Group, had to say about the process of working with us:
“Patrick Ortman and his team is an extremely professional video company. From the script, to the shoot, to the editing, they adhere closely to all our needed deadlines and could grasp quickly the idea of what we wanted and created a wonderfully shot and coherent video that told a story. It incorporated all the many diverse materials that we sent to him and he was always extremely quick to respond and accomodating to all our different request and offices (from all over the world). Patrick has a great personality and was an overall delight to work with, you will always be greeted with transparency and a quick turnaround. We highly recommend Patrick for any corporate video needs.”
As 2017 draws to a close, I’d like to thank everyone who helped make this project happen. Thank you to Waitex, our awesome New York City and New Jersey crew, and our new China friends for everything. I hope 2017 is a great one for us all.
