Nikon D5000 Tests- Monterey Aquarium

Here’s some more photos taken on our Nikon D5000 dslr camera at the Monterey Bay Aquarium in Monterey, California last week. The aquarium’s a pretty tough subject in some ways, and it provided an opportunity to get a little better with “on the fly” shooting, and to get more familiar with the D5000’s menu systems and shooting modes.

The camera was used with the stock 18-55mm lens, and the exterior photos were with an old manual 200mm lens.

So far, this little camera is aces in my opinion. I think when we go back we’ll have to be very careful about shutter speed and using the fastest lenses possible, though- even with ISO 3200 available. Truth is, even with “+1″ available (ISO 6400) you really do not want to use it. Things get very grainy, very fast.
